Let's take another tour through Busan, one of my favorite places I visited in South Korea.
First, the painted city.
Word is, this used to be a run down part of Busan, so to revamp it, they took a lot of colorful paint to the place, and now, it's a sort of attraction in Busan--as you can see, because we visited it, too.
And then there were the random sites along the way, such as this room with white walls to write on. Here's my note:
Unfortunately there was an apartment complex in the middle of the houses. But still, nice view. If I remember right, I think this is one of the few places in Korea with buildings like this.
Along the way there were some other attractions:
Cassandra thought she'd help these pants with an XYZ problem. Nope. Just an awkward (but funny) photo.
Sometimes this is how reading Korean feels.
After the painted villa/town, we moved on to visit a temple in Busan that was on the shore.
(Here our amazing friends who agreed to guide us in Busan.)
There was a lot of beach glass in Busan... but very hard to get at. Seems it's either stuck in rocks or washes away in the tide as soon as you see it...
We also saw some creatures lurking in the rocks...
Two little buddies!
When climbing around the cliffs, we also noticed some melted wax around, as well as candles. Turns out the temple is (as many are it seems) still in use for current Buddhists. You can even participate in a temple stay at some.
And (of course) we couldn't forget a trip to the beach in Busan!
The water was a bit chilly... and salty... and sort of dirty (mostly people not cleaning up after themselves), but not polluted like in Pohang. Overall, a nice swim.
And then we were off to see the cool light and water show at Lotte.
But enough with sitting around at the light show. It was time to walk the streets of Busan...
...and eat street food!
Cassandra REALLY enjoyed those little pastries....
And what else is there to do in Busan? Shopping, of course! Complete with arbitrary uses of English. Hipster.
And in some little shop I got a picture of these pretty paper lanterns. Not much to really do with my trip, but I wanted to post them anyway.
After that, it was time to head to Seoul and Incheon!
