The Best of Both Worlds

I've always been relatively more comfortable in the country, but getting to experience city life in Pohang has been crazy exciting.  There's so much to do, even if it's just walking around looking at all the shops and people.  However, I am also really loving the fact that Handong itself is in the country, surrounded by "mountains" or large hills, with many walking trails.  We weren't entirely certain this first time where we were going exactly, so we took a picture of the map when we found one.

We were looking for a lake... and went in the wrong direction.  But you can see a nice "you are here" marker on the map, so we can figure out where to go next time--however, there are also many small trails that did not appear to be on this map....

The trail begins right behind our dorm...

But there is another entrance at the other side of campus.

This is mostly what is green -- for now.  Looking forward to seeing cherry blossoms soon!

And look!  We can walk to Bukbu beach area in about an hour!  And from Bukbu to Yukgurri!  But then I think we'll ride the bus back when we're finished...

And I think I'll leave it at that for now.  I've skipped a lot by not including orientation week, but I am tired and all you really need to know is that rice, kimchi, soup, and three side dishes gets old after having it for breakfast, lunch and dinner, it was great to have a week to get to know the other international students, and the Handong Poong (wind) is quite cold and strong.
Good night.
